Best exploration Aniimo: climb, swim, fly

Out of 86 Aniimo, only 37 unlock movement when you Twine with them. Three abilities, each from level 1 to 3: climb, swim, fly. Twenty-five can fly, ten swim, and only five can climb — which is what makes a climber so valuable.

Twine lets you take the form of an Aniimo you have caught. But not every species grants movement: out of 86, only 37 unlock anything, and that is what decides where you can go.

The top of the ranking

The three abilities, and their levels

The game defines each ability from level 1 to 3, with a speed per level:

AbilitySpeed by levelHow many Aniimo
Climb1.5 → 2 → 2.55
Swim3 → 4 → 510
Flynot given by the game25

So the level is not decorative: between a level 1 and a level 3 swimmer, speed goes from 3 to 5. On a long crossing, that changes the run.

Why climbers top the ranking

Five Aniimo can climb. Five, out of eighty-six.

When a wall stops you, those five are the only answer — while an obstacle that needs flight leaves you twenty-five options. That is exactly what the score expresses: an ability’s level multiplied by its rarity.

Two flights under one name

The client stores two separate flight values and names both of them “Fly”: the same Aniimo can be flight 2 and glide 3. Only the first is shown to the player — it is the priority entry in the ability table, and it is the one this ranking uses.

The second carries the speeds (5, 6, 7 by level), but the game does not surface it as a separate ability, so we do not attribute it to flying.

What this ranking does not say

  • It does not rank combat. An excellent explorer can be mediocre on a team, and the reverse is true too.
  • The other forty-nine species are not bad: they simply have no movement ability in the tables. They often have other uses, notably in the Homeland.
  • It does not say where to use it. For walls, currents, mechanisms and Sanctums, everything is in exploring Idyll.

The full tier list filters by ability and by element, which directly answers “who gets me past this wall?”. And how Twine itself works is explained in Twine explained.

Frequently asked questions

Which Aniimo should I bring to explore?

The one with the ability you need, at the highest level. A level 3 climber opens walls no other Aniimo gets past.

How many Aniimo can climb?

Five out of 86. It is the rarest ability in the game, well ahead of swimming (ten) and flying (twenty-five).

Do the levels change anything?

Yes. Each ability runs from 1 to 3. The game attaches a speed to each level for climbing (1.5 to 2.5) and swimming (3 to 5); for flying it gives none.

Why are some Aniimo missing from this ranking?

Because they have no movement ability in the game tables. It is not an omission: forty-nine species are in that situation.
