1. Binding Oath

Tucker, the Tucking of the Mistwoods, was sleeping buried in the mud. Woken up and defeated, it flees through a brand-new hole. By the pit, a strange Hummin calls you an Aniimo thief. Once the misunderstanding clears up, the Hummin splits in two: a boy and his Hummin partner. The boy introduces himself as Ron, a human who can Twine with some of the forest’s Aniimo.

He tells you a story from more than a century ago. Ron, a perfumer from Bloomville, was a terrible singer. Lost in the Mistwoods, he heard singing just as bad as his own: Tucker’s. That off-key duo became inseparable, to the point of being able to Twine. Ron left to perfect a Beautiful Voice Perfume; they had promised to use it together so the whole forest would hear their song. When he came back, the Mistwoods had withered and lost their colors, and Tucker was gone. The forest only began to heal ten years ago, when Irelia gave its black color back. Now the “perfumer” has returned, but Tucker doesn’t recognize him.

Ron suspects the vine cores. Tucker guards the entrance of a Sanctum with three main vines, and they seem to have lost their connection to him. Each core you pull shows you a memory: Tucker asleep beside a boy in a clearing, a disastrous duet with a Hummin that scares off the Hexxins, a boy on a vine reaching for the stars.

As you hand over the cores, Ron slips and talks about “his” memories. He confesses: his name is Selens, he is a descendant of Ron the perfumer, and he wears the glimmer fruit garland to keep the promise in his ancestor’s place. Later, garland on his head, he calls out to Tucker pretending to be Ron. Tucker bursts into tears and burrows away. Selens finally understands: Tucker knew at once he wasn’t his friend, and he himself felt nothing when Tucker cried. The real promise probably wasn’t the concert, but the message Ron never got to deliver: that he was sorry he couldn’t come back. A hundred-year-old promise is kept, just not by the one Tucker was waiting for.

Step by step

  1. In the Mistwoods, follow the “Shhh!” clue to Tucker, asleep in the mud. Wake it up: the clue warns it may get grumpy.
  2. Once Tucker is defeated, follow the “A Strange Hummin” clue to the pit it fled through.
  3. Talk to the talking Hummin (objective “A talking Hummin?”) and explain who you are.
  4. Gather the three vine cores: in the eastern ruins, in the western swamp and in the northern cave.
  5. Give the vine cores to Ron, then keep talking to him.
  6. Find Selens: once to witness his reunion with Tucker, and once more for the ending.

Section rewards: 1,000 Safaris, 1 Binding Oath (legendary perfume), 30 Glimmer, 22,500 Credits, 30 Sparkling Crystals.

Characters you meet

  • Selens: a boy who can Twine with some of the forest’s Aniimo, always with his Hummin partner. He first introduces himself as Ron, his ancestor.
  • Ron: a Bloomville perfumer from over a century ago and Tucker’s friend. You only know him through Selens’s story and the vine core memories.
  • Tucker: the Tucking of the Mistwoods, a huge Tuckin that guards the vines protecting a Sanctum. A few lines call it “Tucky”.
