How to catch an Aniimo: Aniipods, the BREAK gauge and good habits

Break the BREAK gauge in combat first, then throw an Aniipod while the Aniimo is vulnerable. Every Aniipod has a stated in-game effect: Aniipod Pro multiplies your chance by 1.5, Mega and Hyper by 2, Ultra guarantees the catch with at least Elite potential, and the Sparkling Cube guarantees everything, Perfect potential included.

The principle, in three steps

  1. Start the fight. Attack the creature normally.
  2. Break the BREAK gauge. Every wild Aniimo has one. Once emptied, it becomes vulnerable: that is your catch window.
  3. Throw the Aniipod during that window.

The Aniipods and their exact effect

What the Ultra and the Cube really guarantee

This is the most asked question: “should I put an Ultra on every Alpha?”

The game answers it in its own tutorial:

There will be only one chance to catch an Alpha after defeating it. Switch to the most advanced Aniipod you have to catch!

So yes: on an Alpha, you pick your Aniipod before the fight ends, and there is no second attempt.

  • The Aniipod Ultra is not there to land a hard catch, it is there to lock in Elite potential. On a common target, that is a waste.
  • The Sparkling Cube does everything at once: catch, Perfect potential, Sparkling mutation. Used on an already-Perfect Aniimo, it also raises the chance that innate potential for the recommended attributes exceeds 8.

What Perfect, Elite, Sparkling and Prismana actually mean is covered in Prismana, Sparkling, Umbrabow, Alpha, Perfect.

Offerings, before you even throw an Aniipod

Several items are offered to a Bloom during Nurturing, and change what shows up:

  • Sparkling Essence — increases the chance of Sparkling Aniimo appearing.
  • Prismana Sigil — increases the chance of attracting special hidden Prismana Aniimo. You get it by reporting a Prismana Form Aniimo at the outpost.
  • Veinlit Fruit — nourishes the ecosystem and attracts more high-tier Aniimo.

In other words, a good catch is prepared before the fight. The full loop is described in prismatic energy, Nurturing and weather.

Where to look for which creature

  • On the in-game map, Aniimo Distribution (lower-left) gives each region’s collection progress and its weather.
  • Our interactive map places the spawn points read from the files, with filters and search.
  • Every Aniimo page lists its regions.

The complete method, weather and time of day included, is in where to find any Aniimo.

Catch them all, even the weak ones

A “weak” Aniimo is good for three things:

  • The Homeland. Many mediocre fighters are excellent workers.
  • Twine. Each species grants a movement ability. The one that opens a passage is not necessarily the strongest in combat.
  • The Aniilog. Completion is a goal in itself, and every catch raises the area’s collection progress — which is what unlocks Nurturing.

Frequently asked questions

Which Aniipod should I use on an Alpha?

The most advanced one you own: the game warns that you get only one chance to catch an Alpha after defeating it. An Aniipod Ultra guarantees the catch and at least Elite potential.

Is the Sparkling Cube worth more than an Ultra?

It does everything an Ultra does and more: guaranteed catch, Perfect potential, and an always-Sparkling Aniimo. It is the rarest item in the game: save it for a target you will not see again.

What is the Tumbler for?

It is an Aniipod that rolls along and catches any Aniimo it passes. It is especially effective on Aniimo gathered by Nurturing.

Can a catch be missed permanently?

A failed attempt consumes the Aniipod. The Aniimo can reappear, unless it depended on specific weather or time of day: then you have to wait for the same conditions.

Should I save basic Aniipods?

No. They restock easily in the Credit Shop. A creature that escapes costs more than an ordinary Aniipod.
